  • Core Definition

·58% potassium chloride refers to the content of potassium oxide (K₂O), the effective component in the fertilizer, being 58%. This refers to the potassium content within it, not the purity of potassium chloride being 58%. It is one of the potassium fertilizer varieties with the highest concentration on the market at present (another common one is 60% potassium chloride).

Sodium chloride (nacl) mass fraction 3.0%
Mass fraction of water insoluble matter 0.5%
  • Product Features

· Appearance: Usually fine crystals or particles in white, light brick red or dark red (the color varies depending on the production process and the source of the ore. The red color comes from the iron element in natural minerals and does not affect the fertilizer efficiency).

· Chemical composition: The main component is KCl (potassium chloride).

· Nutrient content: K₂O ≥ 58%, which means that every 100 kilograms of fertilizer contains at least 58 kilograms of available potassium.

· Solubility: It is highly soluble in water and is a fast-acting fertilizer that can quickly provide potassium to crops.

· Acidity and alkalinity: Physiologically acidic fertilizer. Long-term single application may lead to soil acidification, especially in acidic soil, attention should be paid.

· Chloride ion content: High, which is the main difference between it and potassium sulfate. The chlorine content is usually around 45% to 47%.

  • Main advantages

· High potassium content: High nutrient concentration means relatively low transportation and application costs.

· Affordable price: Among fertilizers with the same potassium content, potassium chloride is the lowest-cost source of potassium fertilizer, offering an extremely high cost-performance ratio.

· Strong quick-acting effect: It dissolves quickly and can be rapidly absorbed and utilized by crops, making it particularly suitable as top dressing.

· Wide range of applications: Suitable for most chlorine-tolerant or chlorine-loving crops, as well as regions and soils that are not sensitive to chlorine.

  • Applicable crops

· Strong chlorine tolerance/potassium-loving crops: cotton, flumes (chlorine can enhance fiber toughness and strength), sugar beets (increase yield and sugar content), corn, rice, sorghum, wheat and other field crops.

· General field crops: It can be used in reasonable dosages.

  • Applicable soil

·It is most suitable for use in neutral, calcareous soil and well-drained soil.

· Use soil with caution: For long-term use in acidic soil, lime or organic fertilizer should be applied to neutralize the acidity. It should be used with caution or in small amounts in saline-alkali land, arid and rain-deficient areas, and poorly drained soil to prevent the accumulation of chloride ions and salts.

  • Application Method

· Base fertilizer: Before sowing or transplanting, apply it deeply into the soil in combination with land preparation (as potassium has poor mobility in the soil, deep application is conducive to root absorption).

· Top dressing: Apply it early and avoid applying it later to prevent the accumulation of chloride ions in the plant. It is not suitable for use as: seed fertilizer (high concentration may affect seed germination) and foliar topdressing (foliar fertilizer).

· Combined application: The effect is better when applied in combination with nitrogen fertilizer, phosphorus fertilizer and organic fertilizer. Mixed application with organic fertilizers can alleviate the adverse effects of chloride ions and acidity on the soil.

  • Important notes

· "Chlorine-sensitive crops" should be avoided or used with caution: For crops that are clearly chlorine-sensitive, it is best to choose chlorine-free potassium fertilizers such as potassium sulfate.

· Avoid concentrated application: Do not come into direct contact with the root systems of seeds or seedlings to prevent "burning of seeds" or "burning of seedlings".

· Control the total amount and apply in stages: Especially on sandy soil, apply in small amounts frequently to reduce nutrient loss.

· Soil health management: For fields where potassium chloride has been applied for a long time, the soil pH value and salinity should be monitored regularly, and organic fertilizers or lime should be applied for improvement.

· Storage safety: It is prone to moisture absorption and caking. It should be stored in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place. Stay away from flammable and explosive items as they may have certain corrosiveness in high-humidity environments.

· Safety Precautions: When handling and applying, it is recommended to wear a mask and gloves to prevent dust inhalation or prolonged skin contact.

  • Summary

58% potassium chloride is a highly efficient and economical fast-acting potassium fertilizer, and it is the main force in meeting the potassium demands of crops. Its core advantages lie in high content and low cost. The key to choosing or not lies in the crop's tolerance to chlorine and soil conditions. It is an ideal choice for large-scale food crops and chlorine-tolerant cash crops. For chlorine-sensitive economic crops that pursue high quality, more suitable potassium fertilizers such as potassium sulfate should be selected.
