20.5% granular ammonium sulfate is a classic nitrogen-sulfur compound fertilizer with the chemical formula (NH₄)₂SO₄. Its core feature is to provide ammonium nitrogen and water-soluble sulfur. Among them, "20.5%" usually refers to a nitrogen (N) content of 20.5% and a sulfur (S) content of approximately 23-24%. Compared with powder form, granular form (usually 1-4mm) has the advantages of being less prone to moisture absorption and caking, having good fluidity, being convenient for mechanical application, and generating less dust.

Nitrogen (N, 20.5%)
·It is in the form of ammonium nitrogen (NH₄⁺). It can be adsorbed by soil colloids, is not easily leached away, and has relatively stable and long-lasting fertilizer efficiency.
·After being absorbed by plants, it can be directly used for the synthesis of amino acids and proteins, and takes effect relatively quickly.
·It is particularly suitable for use in paddy fields (rice paddies) because ammonium nitrogen is more stable under anaerobic conditions.
Sulfur (S, approximately 24%)
·The fourth essential medium element for plants. It is a key component in the synthesis of proteins, vitamins (such as biotin and thiamine), and aromatic substances (such as the aroma of scallions and garlic).
·It can effectively improve the sulfur deficiency in the soil and enhance the quality of crops, especially showing remarkable effects on "sulfur-loving crops" such as cruciferous vegetables (rape, Chinese cabbage), garlic and Onions, legumes, tobacco, and sugarcane.
·It helps in the formation of chlorophyll and promotes root growth.
· Appearance: White or light yellow crystalline granules.
· Solubility: Readily soluble in water, it is a fast-acting fertilizer.
· Acidity and alkalinity: Physiologically acidic fertilizer. Long-term application alone will increase soil acidity.

· Rapid nitrogen source replenishment: Provide sufficient nitrogen for the early growth stage of crops, promote the growth of stems and leaves, increase chlorophyll, and make the leaves dark green and the plants strong.
· Efficient sulfur supplementation: Correct soil sulfur deficiency, increase crop yield and quality (such as raising the oil content of rapeseed and increasing protein content).
· Field crops: rice, wheat, corn, rape.
· Cash crops: tobacco, sugarcane, cotton, potato.
· Vegetables and fruits: scallions, garlic, leeks, citrus fruits, fruit trees, etc.
·It can be used as base fertilizer or top dressing: It can be deeply applied as base fertilizer or as top dressing during the vigorous growth period of crops.
· Deep application and soil covering: To prevent the volatilization loss of ammonium nitrogen (especially in calcareous soil), it is recommended to dig furrows or holes for application and then cover the soil to improve the utilization rate of fertilizers.
· Application in paddy fields: Maintain the water layer after application, but avoid large-scale water diversion irrigation.
· Soil acidification: Long-term and excessive use alone can lead to soil compaction and acidification. It should be used in combination with organic fertilizers, lime or other neutral fertilizers, and the soil pH should be monitored regularly.
· Avoid burning seedlings: When used as seed fertilizer, keep a certain distance from the seeds (in the lateral or lower position) and avoid direct contact.
·vs urea (N 46%) : Urea needs to be converted into ammonium nitrogen in the soil (which takes several days) before it can be absorbed, and its fertilizer effect is slightly slower. Ammonium sulfate takes effect quickly and provides sulfur. Urea is neutral, while ammonium sulfate is physiologically acidic.
·vs ammonium bicarbonate (N 17%) : Both provide ammonium nitrogen. Ammonium bicarbonate is more volatile, has poor stability and a strong ammonia smell. Granular ammonium sulfate is more stable, convenient to apply and has a high nutrient content.
·vs calcium ammonium nitrate (N 15.5%) : Calcium ammonium nitrate contains nitrate nitrogen and ammonium nitrogen, takes effect faster, and contains calcium and magnesium, which can improve soil acidity; Ammonium sulfate provides sulfur and has a higher nitrogen content.
