Product Overview

NPK 20-5-20:

  • N (nitrogen) 20% : This is the total nitrogen content in the fertilizer. Nitrogen is a core element for plant growth, mainly responsible for promoting lush stems and leaves and dark green leaves. It is also crucial for plants to carry out photosynthesis, produce proteins and enzymes. The high nitrogen content indicates that this is a fertilizer that promotes vegetative growth.

  • P₂O₅ (phosphorus) 5% : This is the content of diphosphorus pentoxide, representing available phosphorus. Phosphorus mainly promotes root development, flower bud differentiation, flowering and fruit ripening. A content of 5% is relatively low, indicating that this fertilizer is not primarily aimed at promoting flowering and root growth.

  • K₂O (potassium) 20% : This is the content of potassium oxide, representing available potassium. Potassium is known as the "quality element", which can enhance the stress resistance of plants (disease resistance, cold resistance, drought resistance), promote the transportation of photosynthetic products, and make the stems thick, the fruits plump, the color good and the sugar content high.

‍Potassium sulfate type:

This indicates that the source of potassium in the fertilizer is potassium sulfate, rather than the common potassium chloride. This is a very important feature of this fertilizer, which determines its applicable objects.

Product advantages

  • This is high in nitrogen and potassium, with a balanced nutrition: the ratio of 20-5-20 belongs to the type of high nitrogen, medium potassium and low phosphorus. It can not only strongly promote the growth of crops, but also ensure the quality of fruits and the health of plants at the same time. It is particularly suitable for top dressing in the middle and later stages of crops where vegetative growth and reproductive growth occur simultaneously (such as fruits and vegetables).

  • Sulfur supplementation: Potassium sulfate-type fertilizers contain approximately 16% to 18% sulfur. Sulfur is the fourth essential nutrient for the synthesis of proteins and vitamins. It can improve the quality of crops, especially having a significant effect on enhancing the flavor of sulfur-loving crops such as scallions, garlic, and leeks.

  • Chlorine-free or low-chlorine: This is the most core advantage of the "potassium sulfate type". It contains no chloride ions (Cl⁻) or has an extremely low content, thus being suitable for chlorine-sensitive crops and avoiding the adverse effects of chloride ions on crop yield and quality.

  • Good water solubility: Most of the 20-5-20 potassium sulfate compound fertilizers available on the market have excellent water solubility. They can be used not only in traditional furrow and hole applications but also in integrated water and fertilizer systems such as drip irrigation and sprinkler irrigation, achieving precise fertilization and improving fertilizer utilization efficiency.

  • Improving soil: Long-term use of potassium sulfate type fertilizers has a smaller impact on soil salinization compared to potassium chloride type fertilizers and is more conducive to soil health.

Product application

Particularly suitable for crops:

  • Chlorine-sensitive crops: tobacco, potatoes, tea, citrus fruits, grapes, watermelons, strawberries, peppers, lettuce, amaranth, etc.

  • Sulfur-loving crops: garlic, onion, Chinese chives, rape, beans, etc.

  • Crops with high economic value: flowers, greenhouse vegetables, fruit trees, etc.

Optimal application period:

  • Fruit trees: The period of fruit expansion and the restoration of tree vigor after fruit harvest.

  • Fruits and vegetables: vigorous growth period, after fruit setting to before harvest.

  • Leafy vegetables: Throughout the entire growth period, to promote rapid leaf growth.

  • Tobacco: In the middle and later stages of growth to improve the quality of tobacco leaves.

  • Lawns and green plants: Top dressing during the growing season to promote greenery.

Precautions for application

  • ☀️Do not mix with calcium fertilizer: Sulfate ions (SO₄²⁻) will react with calcium ions (Ca²⁺) to form calcium sulfate (gypsum) precipitate, which not only clogs the drip irrigation equipment but also reduces the fertilizer efficiency. If calcium fertilizer needs to be supplemented, it should be applied separately.

  • ☀️Pay attention to soil acidification: Potassium sulfate is a physiologically acidic fertilizer. Long-term use alone on acidic soil may aggravate the problem of soil acidification. It is recommended to use it in combination with organic fertilizer and regularly test the soil pH value. If necessary, apply lime for regulation.

  • ☀️The dosage needs to be controlled: Although it is a high-quality fertilizer, the principle of "small amounts and multiple times" should also be followed to avoid excessive application at one time, which may cause salt damage and nutrient waste.

  • ☀️Supplementing phosphorus fertilizers: Due to the relatively low phosphorus content, during the seedling stage or before the flowering stage when crops have a high phosphorus requirement, it is necessary to pay attention to supplementing phosphorus fertilizers separately (such as superphosphate, potassium dihydrogen phosphate, etc.).

  • ☀️Specific dosage and administration: Please be sure to refer to the specific instructions of the purchased product and adjust it according to the type of crop, growth stage, soil fertility and other conditions.

‍NPK 20-5-20 potassium sulfate compound fertilizer is a highly efficient, high-quality and multi-functional fertilizer. It is particularly suitable for crops that are sensitive to chloride ions and have high economic value, especially in the middle and later stages when fruit quality and healthy plant growth are pursued. Its "potassium sulfate type" characteristic makes it one of the ideal choices for high-quality agriculture and integrated water and fertilizer systems.
